Clinical Outcome with Oral Antiviral In Severe Acute Hepatitis B

Background and Aim: Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection has become a significant health problem in India. In view of HbsAg presence 2-4.7% population it, lead to huge overall burden this deadly disease. Around 40 million people are having chronic hepatitis India but large scale studies on severe acute scarce. Aim isTo determine clinical outcome patients who were treated with antiviral agents. Methods: This prospective study was conducted at PGIMS, Rohtak for five years. Four hundred eighty (480) confirmed followed. Results: Out these 480 patients, fifty diagnosed be suffering from as evidenced by upward trend serum bilirubin or coagulopathy (INR >1.5), persisting over more than onemonth duration level above 10 mg%. The oral treatment (Tenofovir 300 mg Entecavir 0.5 mg) started data pertaining them analyzed. Conclusions: Our highlights that even infection, treatment, not only many precious lives can saved 93.18% becomes negative within 6 months treatment.
